Ireland is a beautiful island, full of 40 shades of green, flowering meadows, faerie forests, rolling hills, ancient stones, and ocean waves that bring a force of contemplation to its shores.  However, this is only one reason that we are going to Ireland starting on April 29, for our spiritual journey until May 7. We are going to experience the Celtic Way of Seeing in the natural landscape, at the sacred sites, and through the enduring Irish stories. It is a journey which follows  the old Celtic roads between earth and sky, as we remember the ancient ways of being, shared by our ancestors. This is truly a pilgrimage to recall our indigenous wisdom and reconnect with the mythic roots of who we are. You will not find another journey like this one.

We will be visiting the Hill of Tara, an ancient site which has  been a seat of both spiritual and temporal power  for over 5 millennium and is associated with the ancient Gods and Goddesses of Ireland. We will visit Newtrange, the massive World Heritage site in the Boyne Valley best known for the illumination of its passage by the winter solstice sun, it was also built over 5,000 years ago.

Bridget's well near the home of our guide, Dolores Whelan will be a spot for special meditation. We will drive to the Burren and spend 2 days on an exploration of the dolmans, rock circles, hidden springs, and certainly, we will celebrate the 700 species of blooming flowers and ferns for a special May Day! The sacred landscape of the Burren is full of places for ritual and ceremony. With Dolores guiding us, we will honor the ancient spirits in these ways. Near the Burren, can be found one of Ireland's Sheelagh na gigs and we will be sure to visit her.

Following in the footsteps of John O' Donohue, the late Irish poet and mystic, we will visit the mysterious Corcomroe; Abbey. Then, into the dramatic country of Connemara, we will walk the landscape and follow the path to Mamean Pass. "Up at the pass stood a tiny chapel, an altar and the cave-like recess called St Patrick's Bed.  A statue of the saint brooded over the path, a sheep at his heels. Had the good shepherd Patrick once walked these slopes, blessed the holy well nearby and slept in the cave? Many down the centuries thought and felt that he had, and they forged a pilgrim path to the pass, with its breathtaking views over the Inagh and Maam valleys."

We will walk the pilgrim pass. 


Next we will take the ferry to the Aran Islands. Visiting Inish Mhor, our focus will be to experience the remnants of the rich Celtic spiritual tradition very much alive among the people residing there.They still speak Gaelic as their mother tongue, a language that is full of prayers, blessings and references to God and Mary as part of the daily speech.

Inish Mhor has 27 nationally protected monuments. Most of them are spiritual sites and some date back to pre-Celtic times. We will visit many of these for a deeper understanding and conduct ceremonies with our guide, a Celtic priest. Possibly, we will spend the night at a retreat center on Inis Morh, where we can enjoy a peaceful rest and nourishment for the soul in a place that offers a unique opportunity for contemplation.
